LG Urges Investigation Over Sony Patent Violation

Written By Unknown on Saturday, March 5, 2011 | 11:38 PM

South Korean electronics company, LG, urged the United States International Trade Commission (ITC) to investigate patent infringement in Sony's PlayStation and some Bravia TV.

LG request immediately responded by ITC, which immediately formed a team to investigate the initial court charges. This investigation does not necessarily imply that the ITC will prove Sony's guilt or take legal action. Similarly, as reported by Yahoonews, Saturday (03/05/2011).

Last February, LG filed a complaint with the ITC that Sony has used their Blu-ray technology in the PlayStation and some Bravia TV.

Bloomberg rate, this issue further exacerbate the 'war' law between LG and Sony, which is the second TV producer and third largest in the world. Earlier this week, customs officials in the European Union reportedly confiscated tens of thousands of PS3 consoles, following a dispute between Sony and LG-related patents.

Last December, Sony was the one who demanded the LG because it claimed had violated patents owned by a Japanese company in a number of devices: LG Quantum, Cosmos, Accolade, Encore, env Touch, Fathom, Glance, GU295, Lotus Elite, LX370, Neon, Remarq, Rumors Touch, VL600, Vu Plus and Xenon.
